AFTER the passage on third and final reading of the 20 priority bills of the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) as well as the 2024 General Appropriations Bill, the House of Representatives on Wednesday offered a thanksgiving mass to mark the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, and formally start the 2023 HRep month.
Fr. Jose Tupino in his homily reminded HRep officials and personnel of their vocation as government functionaries, “You are called to rebuild our country, to restore peace, justice and welfare of the people.” He urged mass-goers to look at St. Francis as their model for service, “Pray for the gift of restoration and rebuilding. And pray that with this desire, we may be free of our attachments, work for reconciliation and peace, and always imitate Christ in His following of God.”
Secretary General Reginald Velasco, whose office sponsored the mass, led the House officials in attendance. The mass was also held to honor to Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary as the institution celebrates the month of the Holy Rosary, and the observance of the Feast of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary of La Naval on Sunday.
