Nag-alok na ng PHP 5 milyong pabuya si Speaker Martin Romualdez ng House of Representatives sa sinumang makakapagbigay ng impormasyon na makakapagturo upang madakip ang tao sa likod ng pagkamatay ng beteranong broadcaster na si Percival Mabasa, o mas kilalang Percy Lapid.
“We in the House view with concern the killing of Percy Mabasa. The perpetrators and the masterminds behind this dastardly act must be brought to justice at all costs,” ayon kay Romualdez nitong Linggo ng gabi.
Sinabi pa nito na “Violence has no place in a civilized society like ours,” Romualdez said, noting the continued violence against the media “who are just exercising their profession.”
“The role of journalists is very critical in ensuring transparency in government. Protecting them is very important in guaranteeing freedom of speech and freedom of expression. We in government, consider them as partners in nation-building,” dagdag pa niya.
Matatandaang pinagbabaril si Lapid ng dalawang di pa nakikilalang lalaki sa gate ng kanilang subdivision sa Aria Street, Barangay Talon Dos, in Las Piñas City noong Oct. 3.
Ipinag-utos na rin ni President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.agarang imbestigasyon ng mga ototridad sa nasabing pangyayayri.
