
A POLICEMAN and two suspects were killed while two other police officers were injured in a gun buy-bust operation in Bataan .
Acting Bataan provincial director Col. Palmez Z. Tria reported to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr. that slain was Cpl. Darnel S. Alfonso, a member of the Bataan Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU).
The injured were Bataan PIU OIC Maj. Dennis Duran and SSg Glenn Salac.
According to Tria, members of the Bataan PIU, Orion police, Bataan 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company, together with the Bataan Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Provincial Field Unit, conducted the entrapment in Bgy. Gen. Lim, Orion, Bataan.
Target of the sting were the two suspects.
Seeing the approaching cops, the suspects opened fire, killing Alfonso and injuring Duran and Salac.
Officers retaliated killing the two gunrunners , whose identities were being verified.
The three officers were rushed to the Bataan General Hospital, where Alfonso was declared dead upon arrival.
Duran and Salac are now in a stable condition.
Recovered from the slain suspects were one cal. .45 pistol loaded with 12 live bullets, another cal. .45 pistol loaded with six live bullets, a homemade 12 -gauge shotgun with four live shells, and a hand grenade.
The PRO3 and the Bataan police commended the gallantry and heroism of Alfonso and the raiding team in the bloody operation.
“Our men and women in uniform displayed exceptional skills, dedication, and professionalism in the line of duty, resulting in the neutralization of notorious criminal elements and the seizure of illegal firearms,” Tria said.
“We extend our sincerest gratitude to our brave police personnel for their selfless service and sacrifice to keep our province safe. We assure our citizens that the Bataan PPO remains steadfast in carrying out our mandate to serve and protect, and we will spare no effort in bringing to justice those who threaten the safety and security of our province,” the Bataan top cop added.
