Officers of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) has announced the arrest of two Chinese
nationals for alleged rape.
BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco identified the arrested aliens as Liu Yong, 28, and
Sun Laizheng, 35, who were previously arrested by the Philippine National Police (PNP)
for violation of Article 266 of the Anti-Rape Law.
“We received a coordination letter from PNP Pasay City regarding Liu and Sun. Their
custody was transferred to us last Oct. 19,” the BI Chief added.
According to Tansingco Liu and Sun have been in the country since 2018 and 2019,
respectively.
The arrested foreigners were charged for violating the conditions and limitations of their
stay as non-immigrants, being a public charge, and posing a clear and present danger to
public welfare.
Tansingco then expressed his dismay towards the incident. “They are a threat to our
women and children and there is no place for these kinds of foreigners in our land,” said
Tansingco. “Rest assured that the BI is in close coordination with other law enforcement
agencies in advocating for a safer community for the Filipinos,” he added.
Liu and Sun are detained in BI’s detention center in Taguig pending deportation
proceedings.
