ONE of Ormoc City’s most wanted persons on Thursday was killed in a gunbattle with policemen out to arrest him, Police Regional Office 8 director Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac said
In a report to Philippine National Police chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos, the PRO8 director said that suspect Jimmy Delalamon, the subject of a non-bailable warrant of arrest for rape, shot it out with officers who tracked him down in his hiding place in Purok Adelfa in Bgy. Bilwang in Isabel, Leyte and was killed.
Banac said that members of the Ormoc City Police Office and the Isabel Municipal Police Station conducted the operation aimed at arresting the suspect, whose arrest was ordered by Judge Mario Quinit of the Ormoc City Regional Trial Court Branch 12.
“My men had no recourse but to return fire when the heavily-suspect started firing at them. They had to defend themselves,” said Banac.
