PHILIPPINE Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) Regional Fish Ports (RFP) recorded their highest monthly fish unloading for the year at 49,718.434 metric tons (MT) in November 2023.
The PFDA – General Santos Fish Port Complex (PFDA-GSFPC) continues to contribute the largest chunk of the volume of fish unloading. This month, the GenSan port unloaded 24,377.649 MT of fish, almost half of the total unloading record for the month.
Subsequently, the PFDA – Navotas Fish Port Complex (PFDA-NFPC) bounced back after several months of unsteady unloading volume. This November, the Navotas port transported 19,404.97 MT of fish (26.19% increase) to its clients and stakeholders.
In addition, the PFDA – Zamboanga Fish Port Complex (PFDA-ZFPC) and the PFDA – Davao Fish Port Complex (PFDA-DFPC) both significantly increased their monthly unloading and looked at ending the year on a positive note. The Mindanao ports unloaded 1,157.45 MT (19.67% increase) and 440.39 MT (121.57% increase) of fishery products, respectively.
Meanwhile, the PFDA – Bulan Fish Port Complex (PFDA-BFPC) performed well this month with 1,144.4 MT of fish unloaded and delivered to consumers.
On the other hand, the PFDA – Iloilo Fish Port Complex (PFDA-IFPC) and the PFDA – Lucena Fish Port Complex (PFDA-LFPC) experienced a slight decline due to northeasterly wind flow and shear lines which are seen to cause scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. Nonetheless, the ports unloaded 1,652.7 MT and 1,458.32 MT of fish, respectively.
Furthermore, the PFDA – Sual Fish Port (PFDA-SFP) delivered 82.57 MT of fish to its clients and stakeholders this November 2023.
