A family of five members will need at least PhP15,324 per month to meet their minimum basic food and non-food needs in the first semester of 2023.
On the other hand, subsistence incidence was recorded at 3.9 percent which translates to about 666 thousand Filipino residents of the region had income that is not enough to buy even their basic food needs.
The monthly food threshold for a family of five was estimated at an average of PhP10,896.
Poverty incidence in 2023 had gone down by 1.3 percentage points in comparison to 2021 result, estimated at 14.8 percent but still higher than the pre-pandemic result in 2018, recorded at 10.5 percent.
