MEMBERS of the Central Luzon police fought it out at Police Regional Office 3’s (PRO3)Tactical Drone Competition 2023 held at the PRO3 Grandstand in Camp Olivas, San Fernando City, Pampanga.
Drone operators from different provincial and city police stations of the Police Regional Office 3 and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 3 joined the event, which showcased their skills and competence in drone operation.
The activity assessed the effectiveness and efficiency of the region on the current police operational procedures using the lightweight aerial asset, including the degree and level of adequacy of preparation, effectiveness and accurate response in addressing various situations.
Participants displayed their basic operational and tactical drone techniques and performed in three stages — obstacle course, tactical identification of target, and drone support to tactical operation.
PRO3 director Brig. Gen Jose Hidalgo Jr. witnessed the event and served as the keynote speaker.
The official commended the cops’ dedication and enthusiasm for the innovation of the police force.
The Regional Mobile Force Battalion 3 under Lt. Col. Jay Dimaandal emerged as the champion.
“The use of drones in law enforcement is a game-changer for the PNP. These aerial vehicles provide real-time surveillance and intelligence-gathering capabilities, making it easier for us to respond to emergency situations, and monitor large areas, especially those involved in anti-insurgency operations,” Hidalgo said.
