Tricycle driver shot dead, daughter killed by stray bullet

A 43-YEAR-OLD tricycle driver and his 12-year-old daughter on Monday died in a gun attack in Lucena City, Quezon.

Lucena City police chief  Lt. Col. Erickson Roranes identified the victims as Michael Garcia and his daughter Mara.

The gun attack occurred at Purok Central, Bgy. Mayao Castillo at 5 a.m. on Monday.

Garcia was driving his tricycle, with Mara and an elder sister on their way to school when shot by a llone gunman.

Witnesses said the armed man suddenly blocked the victims’ path and opened fire several times before fleeing towards the adjacent Pagbilao town.

Garcia suffered gunshot wounds while Mara died from a stray bullet.

The elder girl managed to run away and sought help from village residents.

Probers are looking into old grudge with a relative as motive for the killing.
