THE bicameral conference committee convened to reconcile conflicting votes on House Bill (HB) 4058, or the General Appropriations Bill (GAB), formally completed its task with the signing of the Committee Report Sunday afternoon.
The reconciled, enrolled bill earmarks P6.7 trillion for government operations for 2026.
House Appropriations Committee Chairperson and Nueva Ecija Rep. Mikaela Suansing, who led the House contingent to the event, said the signing of the report “marks the culmination of the conference committee deliberations and reflects the shared commitment of both houses for a responsive and accountable national budget.”
She was joined by her fellow House Members Reps. Jose Alvarez, Javier Miguel Benitez, Albert Garcia, Marcelino Libanan, Jurdin Jesus Romualdo, and Allan Ty.
Senate Finance Committee Chair Win Gatchalian described the rigorous process that the reconciled bill went through.
“This (document) is about 4,300 pages na binasa po ng limang beses,” Gatchalian said, adding that the document, including its annexes, will be uploaded in the respective transparency portals of both chambers once it is ratified.
The House of Representatives and the Senate are scheduled to ratify the report in plenary session Monday afternoon, before the appropriations bill is formally transmitted to the President for his approval.
The President is expected to sign the bill on the first week of January 2026.
