Camp Vicente Lim, Calamba City- THE elements of the Regional Intelligence Division together with the members of Tanauan City Police Station conducted an entrapment operation at Barangay Ambulong, Tanauan City, Batangas.
The arrested suspect identified as alias “Darryl” an encoder, confiscated assorted illegal firecrackers during the operation amounting to approximately 1 million pesos .
He was charged with violating RA 7183, which prohibits the sale, manufacture, distribution, and use of illegal firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices.
PRO4A authorities are actively working towards tracing the origin of the confiscated items to ensure a comprehensive investigation into the supply chain of illegal firecrackers not only in the Batangas province but also in the entire region.
Earlier in October, a fire broke out at Purok 8, Sitio PNB, Brgy. Talisay, Lipa City, Batangas leaving one victim severely injured following a blast from a firecracker powder placed inside a box of alleged firecracker manufacturing substance.
“The Police Regional Office CALABARZON under my command is committed to ensuring the safety of the public, especially during the holiday season when the use of firecrackers tends to surge,” according to PBGen Paul Kenneth Lucas.
The apprehended suspect will face legal charges for Violation of RA 7183 or An Act regulating the sale, manufacture, distribution, and use of Firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices.
The confiscated illegal firecrackers will undergo proper disposal, in adherence to environmental and safety regulations.
PRO4A urges citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to the sale or use of illegal firecrackers.
“The success of this operation demonstrates the effectiveness of collaborative efforts between our law enforcement units, showcasing the dedication of authorities to safeguard our people during this yuletide season,” PBGen Lucas.
