LA TRINIDAD, Benguet — Emergency responders launched search and rescue operations after a landslide struck Shilan Road near Bakaan Eatery in Barangay Shilan, La Trinidad on Thursday, August 6.
Personnel from the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station, together with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Bureau of Fire Protection, Municipal Health Unit, and the local government unit, immediately responded to the incident.
Authorities said continuous heavy rains triggered the landslide, sending mud, rocks, and debris cascading onto the road. The incident partially damaged a nearby establishment and stranded several individuals in the area.
Rescue teams remain on site conducting search and rescue operations, clearing affected portions of the roadway, and securing the area against possible secondary landslides as inclement weather persists.
Officials continue to monitor the situation closely and urged residents and motorists to exercise caution while passing through landslide-prone areas.
