CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The Bureau of Customs – Port of Clark on Wednesday turned over some P2.48 million worth of shabu to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
The illegal drugs were found in a shipment marked “air filter for cars, fuel filter for cars, oil filter for cars,” which arrived from Lagos, Nigeria on Nov. 19.
Upon physical examination, the sealed plastic packs of white crystalline substances were found concealed inside two car oil filters suspected to be illegal drugs, with a gross weight of 360 grams.
Samples turned over to the PDEA for chemical laboratory analysis confirmed the presence of shabu, considered a dangerous drug under the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
BOC-Port of Clark district collector John Simon issued a warrant of seizure and detention against the shipment for violating sections of RA 10863, the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act in relation to RA 9165.
Simon, together with PDEA Regional Director Byan Babang and Clark Airport Intelligence Unit personnel, witnessed the ceremonial turnover of the seized illegal drugs.
“We can never underestimate our enemies. Lagi, they come up with a new modus operandi. But through technology na ibinibigay sa amin ng mga ibat-ibang international organizations, kami naman ay tumutugon sa tawag ng panahon, “Simon said in an interview yesterday.
He likewise cited the strong coordination and partnership between the BOC-Clark and PDEA in all the port’s drug seizures.
“Tuloy ang ating kampanya laban sa droga at wawasakin naming ang lahat ng droga papasok dito sa bayan natin,” Simon added. (PNA)
