LAGUNA Governor Sol Aragones has fulfilled one of her key commitments to strengthen the province’s healthcare system with the launch of the first batch of “Akay ni Gob Botika” in six localities—Santa Rosa, Calamba, San Pablo, Cabuyao, Los Baños, and Mabitac.
The program provides free maintenance medicines to qualified residents, aiming to ease their medical expenses and improve access to essential healthcare services across the province.
Under the “Akay ni Gob Botika” program, residents can now avail themselves of free maintenance medicines such as Amlodipine, Losartan, Atorvastatin, and Metformin, commonly prescribed for hypertension, high cholesterol, and diabetes.
The community pharmacies operate every Monday and Wednesday, offering a one-month supply of maintenance medicines to eligible residents who present a valid prescription and ID. Beneficiaries are also given a record booklet to help monitor their medication and ensure continuous treatment.
If a beneficiary’s prescription has already expired, doctors are available on-site to assess them for free, ensuring that no one is denied access to essential medicines.
Governor Aragones expressed her gratitude and joy during the launch, saying, “Ito na po ang pangarap natin, meron na po tayong Akay ni Gob Botika.”
A resident from Biñan City, Marilou Cuyum, said, “Talagang ginagawa niya ang kanyang tungkulin bilang Gobernador ng Laguna. Ngayon lang po ako nakatikim ng libreng gamot sa tagal-tagal.”
The success of the program was made possible through the joint efforts of health workers, doctors, the Laguna Health Office, and various local government units, all working together to deliver safe and reliable medical services to the people.
Laguna Health Consultant Dr. Eric Tayag, the Public Affairs Office, board members, and mayors and officials from the six participating areas joined Governor Aragones during the ceremonial launch, showing full support for the province’s healthcare initiatives.
Beneficiaries also shared their appreciation for the project. A senior citizen expressed, “Kabawasan po ito sa aming budget. Maraming salamat po.”
Through “Akay ni Gob Botika,” Governor Sol Aragones continues to fulfill her commitment to reform and strengthen Laguna’s healthcare system, bringing quality medical assistance closer to communities and improving the lives of every Lagunense
