CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal – Government troops killed a New People’s Army (NPA) member and seized firearms and other war material following an encounter in Roxas, Oriental Mindoro on Tuesday, September 9.
Reports from the 203rd Infantry Brigade (203Bde) said that troops were conducting security operations after receiving information from local residents about the presence of armed men in Barangay San Vicente. They encountered terrorist NPAs, leading to a 10-minute firefight.
The clash resulted in the death of one NPA terrorist, whose identity has yet to be determined. Recovered at the encounter site were an M16 rifle, two magazines, and a medical kit. No casualties were reported on the government side.
