THE Department of Health (DOH)– Ilocos Region, in partnership with the City Government of Dagupan, successfully conducted a vibrant and interactive Health and Wellness Fair showcasing the health department’s 7 Healthy Habits with the objective of empowering students of Judge Jose de Venecia Sr. Technical-Vocational Secondary School to make informed, positive choices for their health and overall well-being on November 7, 2025, at Brgy. Bolosan.
The fair provided a fun, engaging, and educational space where students explored a series of themed booths designed and presented by dedicated Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) and officials of Brgy. Bolosan where each booth highlighted one of the seven key healthy habits:
1. Move More, Eat Right
2. Be Clean, Live Sustainably
3. Get Vaccinated
4. Don’t Smoke, Avoid Alcohol, Say No to Drugs
5. Care for Yourself, Care for Others
6. Practice Safe Sex
7. Do No Harm, Put Safety First
Through interactive demonstrations, games, health counseling, and creative displays, students learned practical ways to adopt healthier lifestyles and contribute to a safer, more resilient community.
DOH–Ilocos Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco emphasized the importance of providing informed choices among the youth early on.
“By teaching these seven healthy habits to young people, we can build a strong foundation for lifelong wellness. And we continuously support schools and communities in creating environments that promote good health and responsible decision-making,” she stated.
The event also featured a Best Booth Competition, where participating health workers showcased their creativity and innovation. Winners received prizes in recognition of their dedication to inspiring students and advocating for community health.
The DOH–Ilocos Region through its Health Promotion Unit reaffirms its commitment to strengthening health education initiatives and fostering partnerships with local government units and schools to ensure every young person has the knowledge and tools to lead a healthier life.
