THE DOST-CALABARZON will be conducting this year’s Youth Excellence in Science (YES) Awarding for the 203 awardees in CALABARZON from March 7-22, 2024 in the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, and Rizal. Following its last face- to-face awarding in 2019, this year’s awardings will be led by each Provincial S&T Office (PSTO) in the region.
Due to the pandemic health protocols in the years 2020-2022, the face-to-face ceremonial distribution of the YES medals was put to a halt. This year, the awarding of the 2023 YES medals in CALABARZON will be led by the following PSTOs with their respective schedules and venues:
● PSTO-Cavite (49 awardees) – March 13 at SM City Dasmariñas (Main Event Center)
● PSTO-Laguna (66 awardees) – March 22 at the EO Tan Hall, DOST-PCAARRD
● PSTO-Batangas (69 awardees) – March 7 at the De La Salle Lipa and March 8 at the Batangas State University Alangilan Campus
● PSTO-Rizal (19 awardees) – March 15 at the Pilgrim Hall, University of Rizal

The Youth Excellence in Science (YES), as bestowed by the DOST Science Education Institute (SEI), is DOST’s institutional award that recognizes exceptional elementary and high school students who won gold, silver, and bronze medals in international science and mathematics competitions in the year prior the awarding date. From the astounding 2,114 awardees in the country, CALABARZON came in second to the NCR (1,012 awardees) in terms of the region with the most awardees.
