TO promote the government’s campaign to strengthen delivery of key government services, create a more business-friendly environment, and improve bureaucratic efficiency, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. declared the month of May of every year as ease of doing business (EODB) Month.
In issuing Proclamation No. 818 on March 3, the President directed the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) to lead the yearly observance of the EODB Month and identify the programs, activities, and projects related to the celebration.
The proclamation, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, also directed all agencies and instrumentalities of the national government covered by RA No. 9485, or the Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007 as amended, including government-owned or -controlled corporations (GOCCs) and local government units (LGUs) to coordinate with ARTA for the effective implementation of all programs and activities relative to the EODB Month celebration.
The proclamation also encourages non-government organizations (NGOs) and the private sector to actively participate and support ARTA in implementing all EODB initiatives, including the observance of EODB Month.
Under RA No. 9485, the ARTA is mandated to implement and oversee a national policy on anti-red tape and EODB and carry out various reform initiatives to streamline government services.
ARTA is also mandated to recommend policies, processes, and systems to improve regulatory management, monitor agency compliance, and conduct training programs to ensure sound regulatory management practices.
The administration remains committed to strengthening the whole-of-government approach in the delivery of key services, and increasing awareness in creating a more business-friendly environment, driving economic development, and improving bureaucratic efficiency. |
