
THE National Bureau of Investigation – Fraud and Financial Crimes Division (NBI-FFCD), implemented several search warrants in 15 stalls in Binondo, Manila and one (1) stall in San Nicolas, Manila for violation of Section 155 (Trademark Infringement) in relation to Section 170 of Republic Act 8293 or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.
The operation was initiated after a complaint was filed on behalf of NEW ERA & ‘47 against the 16 stalls in Binondo and San Nicolas, Manila, requesting an investigation and enforcement actions to stop the proliferation of counterfeit products bearing NEW ERA & ‘47 trademarks.
The implementation of Search Warrants resulted in the seizure of 33,744 pieces assorted products bearing NEW ERA trademark and 15,103 pieces of assorted products bearing ‘47 trademark, with an estimated total value of Php170,309,900.00.
Director Judge Jaime B. Santiago (Ret.) lauded the NBI-FFCD for successfully implementing the search warrants and assures the public that the Bureau will continue to fight IPR violations as well as to protect the intellectual property rights of the owners
