THE Department of Health (DOH) – Ilocos Region rolled-out its second “PuroKalusugan” Program in Purok Pocdol, Bayambang, Pangasinan and has served a total of 908 residents from the community including locals from neighboring barangays.
Guest of Honor and Undersecretary for Universal Health Care (UHC) Health Services Cluster for Northern and Central Luzon Maria Rosario S. “Ang programang “PuroKalusugan” po ay handog ng ating Kagawaran ng Kalusugan upang magdala ng serbisyong pangkalusugan sa mga iba’t-ibang purok ng mga munisipyo. This is also to strengthen primary healthcare in the barangays at the “purok” level,” she stated.
In her message, she also reminded residents to conduct regular clean-up activities in their purok to lessen the growing number of dengue cases in their municipality.
Among the health services provided during the one-day activity were nutrition services, immunization, oral health, family planning, and screening services for TB, HIV, Philippine Package of Essential Non-Communicable (PhilPEN) health risk assessment, cervical and breast cancer. Various maintenance medicines were also given to residents needing medication.
Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) in water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) was also conducted.
A total of 60 sacks of fortified rice were given to pregnant women, 15 wheelchairs and 14 canes for persons with disability, 50 jerry cans, and 50 Herbal Medicine Access Program (HerbMap) packages for senior citizens.
Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco added that the program is in line with one of the DOH’s eight-point action agenda, i.e., “Bawat Pilipino Ramdam ang Kalusugan, dahil sa Bagong Pilipinas, Bawat Buhay Mahalaga.”
“Mahalaga na lahat ng tao ay ramdam ang pagbibigay ng ating pamahalaan ng mga libreng serbisyong pangkalusugan upang sila ay mapangalagaan and healthcare services are accessible to all Filipinos, regardless of socio-economic status,” Sydiongco emphasized.
The activity was conducted in collaboration with the local government of Bayambang, Pangasinan Provincial Health Office, Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC), National Nutrition Council – Region 1 and other partner stakeholders.
