SIX former rebels surrendered to authorities in Aurora last Tuesday.
Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr. said the six ex-Militia ng Bayan members joined the group of Regional Sentro Gravidad of the Komiteng Rehiyon-Cagayan Valley (KR-CV) operating in the province of Isabela.
The former rebels turned-in two hand grenades, an improvised 12-gauge shotgun, a one meter detonating cord, one blasting cap, three 12-gauge bullets, one M14 magazine, 10 7.62mm bullets, a flag of the CPP-NPA, several subversive books, and documents.
They were provided with financial assistance and assorted goods as they reintegrate to their communities.
“The government will always welcome members of the communist terror groups with open arms and we will give our best efforts to assist them as they reunite with their families. I call on our fellow Filipinos who are still active members of the leftist groups to return to government side and help us build better and safer communities for everyone,” Hidalgo said.
