CAMP VICENTE LIM, Calamba City, Laguna – A village chief on Friday night was killed by his drunk constituent whom he confronted for unruly behavior in Bgy. Guis-Guis San Roque, Sariaya, Quezon.
A report submitted to Police Regional Office 4A director Brig. Gen. Carlito Gaces identified the victim as Benedicto Robo, the 62-year-old incumbent chairman of Bgy. Guis-Guis San Roque.
Robo suffered gunshot and stab wounds and died while being treated at the hospital.
According to Quezon police director Col. Ledon Monte, suspect Marvin Flores alias “Pong-Pong,” of Bgy. Bignay 2, Sariaya, fled after the killing that occurred at 11:15 p.m. on Friday.
Prior to the assault, the drunk suspect was cautioned by the village chief regarding his unruly behavior while watching a ball game in Bgy. Guis-Guis San Roque.
Flores tailed the village chief while the latter was walking outside the basketball court to buy siopao.
While eating at the store, the village official was approached by the suspect while shouting “Kapitan, bakit mo ako minura?” and subsequently shot Robo four times at close range using a cal. 9mm pistol.
The wounded village chief still managed to run away but suddenly tumble.
Not yet contented, the suspect followed the village chief and finished him off by stabbing him at the back and in the chest.
A team of operatives was dispatched to track down the fleeing suspect.
Operatives expressed belief that the suspect was not only under the influence of alcohol but also of shabu when he did the gruesome crime.
