Camarines Sur – Ako Bicol Party-List Rep. Elizaldy Co was the guest of honor at the groundbreaking ceremony for 19 pivotal infrastructure projects within the 9th Infantry Division of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
“We gather not only to celebrate the groundbreaking of new infrastructure but to honor the indomitable spirit of our soldiers, who serve with relentless dedication and valor,” Co said in his speech.
Addressing a crowd of distinguished guests and dedicated military members, Co highlighted the importance of the new initiatives — amounting to nearly P350 million in investments – in boosting national security and promoting the welfare of the armed forces.
The projects include enhancements to military barracks, the expansion of the 9th Signal Battalion Building, and the development of a comprehensive circumferential road network aimed at boosting training capabilities.
“The Armed Forces of the Philippines has always been steadfast in safeguarding our nation’s sovereignty and fostering peace. Your unwavering dedication forms the foundation upon which our country’s security and harmony stands,” Co said.
The chairman of the House committee on appropriations said the projects represent an unshakeable commitment from President Ferdinand Marcos and Speaker Martin Romualdez to the operational readiness of the AFP.
“They ensure that our armed forces are equipped with the facilities necessary to meet modern military demands and reflect our deep appreciation for the hard work and sacrifices you make every day,” Co added.
More than a groundbreaking, the ceremony is also a testament to the fruitful collaboration between the House of Representatives and the military, the lawmaker said.
“Sa sandaling ito, sa ngalan ng Ako Bicol at ng bawat isang Bicolano, gusto kong ipahayag ang aming taos-pusong pasasalamat sa bawat isa sa inyo—mga matatapang na kalalakihan at kababaihan ng Armed Forces of the Philippines. Malaki ang ambag ng inyong katapangan para sa pag-unlad ng ating mahal na Bicol (At this point, on behalf of the Ako Bicol Part-List and of every Bicolano, I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to each and everyone of you – our fearless men and women of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Your courage has vastly contributed to the progress of our beloved Bicol),” Co said.
