THE Department of Health – Ilocos Region led by Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco together with Pangasinan’s 2nd Congressional District Representative Mark O. Cojuangco and Mayor Ramil P. Ventenilla held the groundbreaking ceremony of the Mangatarem Super Health Center (SHC) yesterday at Brgy. Parian, Mangatarem, Pangasinan.
The SHC will be funded through DOH – Health Facility Enhancement Program 2024 with a P12 million budget.
Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco said that SHCs offer health services such as out-patient, birthing, isolation, diagnostic (laboratory: x-ray, ultrasound), pharmacy, and ambulatory surgical unit. Other available services are eye, ear, nose, and throat (EENT) service, oncology centers, physical therapy and rehabilitation centers and telemedicine and database management of patients.
“Itong mga itinatayong SHCs ng DOH ang magsisilbing frontline health centers at magbibigay ng pangunahing serbisyong pangkalusugan ng mga residente sa ating mga communities upang hindi na sila mahirapan pang magpunta at makipila pa sa ating mga pampublikong mga ospital.”
“Sa pamamagitan ng mga SHCs ay mababawasan natin ang mga pasyenteng nagpupunta sa mga ospital upang magpagamot lalo na kung ang kanilang karamdaman ay maari naming mabigyan ng lunas dito pa lang sa ating mga itinatayong mga SHC facilities. And with this centers, we can ensure that everyone will have access essential health services,” Sydiongco stated.
The Mangatarem SHC is the first health facility that will be constructed this year through the initiative of Mayor Ventenilla and Congressman Cojuangco.
The establishment of these centers aims to strengthen the healthcare sector by increasing access to primary health care, particularly in underserved areas.
Sydiongco added that there will be a total of 61 super health centers to be established in Ilocos Region to provide residents the essential health care services they need.
Among those who also attended the ceremony were Provincial Engr Editha Manuel, Pangasina PHTL Veronica Guadiz De Guzman, Municipal Health Officer Joseph Anthony Laranang, ABC President Richard Palisoc.
