THE Department of Health (DOH) – Ilocos Region together with Municipalitu of Gregorio Del Pilar (GDP), Ilocos Sur officially inaugurated a two-storey super health center and a barangay health station (BHS) located in the town proper that will provide residents access to essential medical services.
Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco said that the super health center will offer services such as dental care, laboratory tests, X-rays, birthing services, and other medical care. “Meron din itong delivery room, minor operation and surgical room, ward, dental clinic, laboratory, pharmacy, TB DOTS, and other outpatient services na pangunahing kailangan ng del Pilarians kasama na ang iba pang malapit na upland communities.”
“These super health facilities that are being established in rural areas will complementing our existing primary care facilities that is why we will provide the necessary medical equipment for the operation of this super health center.” she added.
The new GDP Super RHU building was funded by the local government unit through the efforts of Mayor Henry S. Gallardo and the members of the Sangguniang Bayan. The Department of Health provided the medical equipment as part of the Health Facility Enhancement Program.
Meanwhile, the Poblacion Sur BHS will ensure that primary care services will be available to the barangay. There are a total of seven BHS facilities in GDP.
A total of 61 super health centers will be established across the region with the objective of increasing healthcare access and services to communities, especially in GIDAs.
