BINAN City’s newly elected officials formally assumed office on June 27, 2025, during an inaugural ceremony held at the Alonte Sports Arena. Leading the roster of officials who took their oath were Mayor Angelo “Gel” Alonte, Vice Mayor Jonalina “Dada” Reyes, and twelve city councilors. Barangay chairpersons from across the city were also present for the landmark occasion.
In his inaugural address, Mayor Alonte expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Biñan for their continued trust. He vowed to focus his administration on strengthening education, healthcare, and sports programs, while also safeguarding the city’s rich cultural heritage and expanding inclusive services for senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and the LGBTQ+ community.
Vice Mayor Reyes likewise pledged full support for the administration’s legislative priorities. As the presiding officer of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, she committed to championing policies that promote transparency, accountability, and equitable public service.
During the ceremony, Mayor Alonte also recognized Congressman-elect Atty. Arman Dimaguila for his lasting contributions to the city. Outgoing Representative Len Alonte expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve and voiced confidence in Dimaguila’s ability to continue the programs she initiated—ensuring a smooth and united transition.
First 100 Days: Addressing Urgent Needs and Building a Resilient City
In a press conference following the ceremony, Mayor Alonte and Vice Mayor Reyes detailed their administration’s top priorities for the first 100 days in office:
1. Flood Mitigation in Coastal Barangays
One of the administration’s immediate goals is addressing persistent flooding in coastal communities, particularly Barangay Dela Paz. Mayor Alonte announced the recent acquisition of a donated water pump to help mitigate floodwaters, with more infrastructure upgrades and drainage improvements on the horizon.
2. Expansion of Senior Citizen Pension Program
Mayor Alonte revealed that by December, the city will expand its local senior pension program to include previously waitlisted beneficiaries—ensuring broader financial support for Biñan’s elderly population.
3. Decentralization of Services
To bring government closer to the people, the mayor plans to deliver basic services directly at the barangay level. He emphasized the importance of community participation, promising to involve barangay leaders in consultations on ordinances and major city programs.
4. Strengthening Healthcare Access
In a move to improve local healthcare delivery, Mayor Alonte will conduct regular office hours at Biñan City Hospital to personally oversee its operations. His administration aims to enhance hospital services, reinforce primary healthcare, provide free medical treatment, support mental health, and boost nutrition initiatives.
“We will ensure that every Biñanense has access to quality, affordable medical services—from basic care to mental health support,” Alonte said. “A healthy community is the foundation of a strong and inclusive city.”
5. Establishment of Biñan City College
Vice Mayor Reyes announced the planned creation of Biñan City College, a flagship initiative to make quality higher education more accessible to the city’s youth. She assured full legislative backing for its development and emphasized education as a cornerstone of long-term progress.
The inauguration signaled a new era for Biñan, with Mayor Alonte and Vice Mayor Reyes promising responsive and inclusive leadership. United in their vision and purpose, the new administration is poised to deliver concrete results, laying the groundwork for a more resilient, empowered, and future-ready Biñan City.
