Lingayen, Pangasinan — PANGASINAN Governor Ramon Guico III has called on the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to expedite the completion of ongoing bypass road projects across the province, stressing their critical role in improving mobility and driving economic growth.
Guico nsaid that the unfinished bypass roads are key to creating stronger “interconnections” among towns and cities in Pangasinan — a development he says will significantly reduce travel time and ease traffic congestion.
At present, travel from the eastern to the western part of the province can take as long as five hours, and even longer during heavy traffic. The governor emphasized that completing these infrastructure projects would dramatically shorten travel time and improve the overall flow of goods and people.
Guico appealed to the DPWH to prioritize the completion of the bypass roads and their accompanying bridges within the next two years, or by 2028 at the latest.
He described the projects as the “final component” in realizing the province’s broader vision of expanding tourism facilities and unlocking greater opportunities for income generation and employment.
One of the flagship projects is the Lingayen-Binmaley Bypass Road, a ₱2.5-billion infrastructure development. The four-lane road will begin at the intersection of the Pangasinan-Zambales Road and the Lingayen-Labrador Diversion Road. It will pass through Barangay Poblacion in Lingayen and Barangay Biec in Binmaley.
Provincial officials believe that once completed, the bypass roads will not only decongest major highways but also serve as catalysts for regional development, positioning Pangasinan for stronger economic and tourism growth in the coming years.
