THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) has reminded motorists to renew their licenses and vehicle registrations before July 31, 2026 to avoid penalties and other corresponding sanctions.
According to the LTO, the extended validity of driver’s licenses, conductor’s licenses, student driver’s permits, and vehicle registrations will end on July 31, as stated under Memorandum Circular No. MVL-2026-5157.
After the said date, expired licenses, permits, and vehicle registrations that have not yet been renewed will be subject to existing regulations and corresponding penalties for late renewal.
The agency also advised motorists to coordinate with their nearest LTO offices or visit its official social media pages for verified and updated information.
The LTO earlier announced a three-month extension of the validity of licenses and registrations starting in April 2026, covering driver’s licenses, conductor’s licenses, student permits, and motor vehicle registrations.
During this period, penalties for late renewal of these documents were temporarily waived.
According to the LTO, the extension was implemented in response to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s declaration of a national energy emergency due to the continuing increase in fuel prices caused by the conflict in the Middle East.
