BAUAN, Batangas – THE Social Security System (SSS) brought its SSS E-Wheels Palengke Caravan to the public market of Bauan, Batangas on June 26, 2026, bringing essential services closer to workers, employers, and market vendors as part of its continuing commitment to make government services more accessible.
The activity was led by Edwin S. Igharas, SSS Luzon South I Division Vice President and Concurrent Acting Head, who said the E-Wheels program aims to deliver various SSS services directly to communities, allowing members to access assistance without having to travel to SSS offices.
According to Igharas, the caravan was designed to make it easier for employees, employers, and market vendors to transact with SSS without leaving their workplaces or businesses for long periods.
Aside from providing on-site services, the caravan also served as an information campaign to promote the importance of SSS membership and educate the public about the benefits available to qualified members.
Igharas explained that these include sickness, disability, maternity, unemployment, retirement, death, and funeral benefits, emphasizing that SSS protection extends throughout a member’s lifetime.
“The benefits of being an SSS member are truly from ‘womb to tomb,’” he said, highlighting the comprehensive social protection provided by the agency.
Meanwhile, Mary Gay H. Galang, Branch Head II of the SSS Batangas Branch, emphasized that the agency continues to prioritize bringing its services closer to the people, particularly those working in the informal sector.
She said market vendors, transport workers, small business owners, and other informal workers play a vital role in the local economy, making it important for them to gain access to social security protection and the benefits offered by SSS.
Through initiatives such as the SSS E-Wheels Palengke Caravan, the agency continues to strengthen its outreach efforts while making its programs more accessible to communities across Batangas.
