THE Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Batangas held the 2026 World Café of Opportunities (WCO) on August 25, 2026, as part of the celebration of National Tech-Voc Day, highlighting the agency’s continuing efforts to make quality Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) accessible to Filipinos. The event was held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Regional Training Center CALABARZON Multipurpose Covered Court inside the TESDA Compound along P. Herrera Street in Batangas City.
During an interview with local media, TESDA Batangas Provincial Director Dorie Gutierrez said the agency’s mandate is to prepare graduates for employment and serve as a bridge between skilled workers and employers.“TESDA’s mandate is to prepare graduates and serve as a bridge between skilled workers and employers,” Gutierrez said.
She noted that workers in the construction and manufacturing sectors remain in high demand, prompting TESDA tcontinuously improve and expand its programs for young people.Gutierrez also highlighted TESDA’s micro-credentialing initiative, which allows the agency to develop customized curricula and training programs based on the specific skills needed by companies.“This makes the skills of our trainees more prepared and relevant to the actual needs of the industry,” she said.
The World Café of Opportunities served as a one-stop service hub for jobseekers and individuals looking for career and livelihood opportunities. Participants were provided access to information and services related to employment, entrepreneurship, scholarships, skills upgrading, job requirements, and other career development programs.Among those who attended were TVET graduates and alumni, jobseekers, returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), and individuals interested in TESDA programs.
Aside from employment opportunities, the event featured services for pre-employment requirements, reskilling and upskilling, entrepreneurship, financing, and career development.
Participating partner agencies included the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Pag-IBIG Fund, Social Security System (SSS), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), and Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).
Through the WCO, TESDA aims to strengthen employment facilitation and increase opportunities for applicants to secure hired-on-the-spot employment.
The event also featured skills demonstrations in 3D printing, hybrid photovoltaic systems, mechatronics, integrated building technology, robotics, LCD/LED panel rework, barista skills, bread and pastry production, and beauty care services.
Products developed by TVET-trained entrepreneurs and farmers were also showcased during the event. San Miguel Corporation and various technical-vocational institutions joined TESDA in supporting the activity.
As TESDA marks its 32nd year, the agency continues to pursue programs aimed at creating more opportunities for Filipino workers and young people, while providing skills and training that can help improve livelihoods and transform the lives of Filipino workers.
