NLEX Corporation has been recognized by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) for helping provide motorists and the public with free access to real-time air quality information.
The DENR Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) Region III presented the recognition during the Environmental Summit 2026 on Aug. 19 at the Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga.
The award cited NLEX’s partnership with the agency in displaying real-time Air Quality Index (AQI) data through an outdoor LED billboard along the NLEX in San Fernando City, Pampanga.
The digital billboard features data from four Regional Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations in San Fernando, Meycauayan, Clark, and Zambales.
NLEX President and General Manager Luis S. Reñon said the initiative makes critical environmental information more visible and accessible to the public.
“Accountability starts with awareness,” Reñon said, thanking the DENR for the partnership.
The initiative is part of NLEX’s continuing environmental sustainability efforts, including its “Road to Less Waste” campaign promoting proper waste disposal and recycling.
The company has also planted more than 200,000 trees along the NLEX corridor and continues to work with government agencies and local governments on environmental programs.
