The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) is proceeding with the voter registration starting on December 12, 2022 to last until the end of January next year.
In its goal to give qualified voters a chance to exercise their right to suffrage, the pilot testing of the Register Anywhere Program (RAP) will also be launched along with the customary procedure.
Initially, the poll body has signed a MOA with five (5) malls, with the details to soon be communicated to the public. For the initial test to widen its reach, the COMELEC is now getting in touch with the House of Representatives, the Senate, and possibly at the Region 5 and Region 8 COMELEC offices which have shown interest to join the pilot test.
Chairman George Erwin Garcia has reiterated that proper security measures is set for a credible and successful outcome of the RAP pilot testing.
The Chairman also came out with a stern warning for those who would try to go through the process with deceptive intentions.
“Meron kaming mga program para ma-countercheck kung mga botanteng ‘yan ay (nagreregister ng double or multiple). In fact, kanina sa en banc, pinag-usapan namin ‘yung pagpapatuloy ng pagpa-file ng mga kaso laban doon sa mga nakita namin at makikita namin na double or multiple registrants.” Garcia said.
“Kaya isang warning po ito. Nagdesisyon po kanina ang komisyon na amin pong pafile-an ng lahat ng kaso ‘yun pong mga dating nakita na namin na naghihintay na lang ngayon ng proper filing at ‘yung mga makikita namin na double and multiple registrants,” Chairman Garcia added.
