Sto. Tomas, Batangas- Showcasing its commitments to create a food-secure Philippines, MEGA Prime Foods Incorporated. (MPFI) formally opened its newest state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Sto. Tomas, Batangas, on March 1, 2023. A world-class facility envisioned to play a vital role to the country in the process of nation-building. The manufacturing plant is expecting to create over 1,000 jobs and livelihood opportunities and further boost the Batangas economy, while ensuring food security in the country.
Present at the inauguration ceremony were Mega Prime Food Incorporated top executives, Chief Executive Officer and Founder William Tiu Lim, Chief Operating Officer Michelle Tiu Lim Chan, Chief Growth and Development Officer Marvin Tiu Lim, Chief Technical and Innovations Officer Malcolm Tiu Lim and Chief Spiritual and People Officer Mark Tiu Lim.
Mega Manufacturing Plant has modern manufacturing facilities and production machineries. It is also incorporates green features, including a warehouse, fishmeal plant with a zero-waste system, and a cold storage that are environmentally friendly with an installation of an-energy-efficient lighting system to lower carbon footprint emissions.
Signifying the importance of the manufacturing facility and MPFI’s support for the government initiatives on food security, the opening of the plant was attended by His Excellency President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. “It make me proud to know that we have the Filipino company that is a pioneer in innovation in the canned sardines industry and easy to open canned sardines in the Philippines. The facility comes at a time when we Filipinos were navigating the waters of the new normal and recovering from the losses incurred from the global pandemic”, Marcos said. He also added that the manufacturing plant will contribute the achievement of the government budget of 10 percent annual increase in food investment in agri-business sector, one of two targets under 2023-2028 Philippine Development Plan. The plant will also help meet the rise in local demand for sardines with its expected capacity to produce more than 11,600 metric tons that can supply the local insufficiency in can sardines.
The project also supports the administration initiative to fulfill the United Nation Sustainable Development goal particularly in the areas of no puberty zero hunger and decent work and economic growth. It is expected to generate more jobs and economic opportunity for the people. President Marcos thank the MPFI saying “ my outmost gratitude to the MPFI for being the instrument of economic and social progress for our Filipino and further more you serve as inspiration to all those who dream and start with a small business. I hope you remain steadfast in your commitment to providing the Filipino families with most innovative high quality and best value for money food. ”
The company invested Php 1 billion for the construction and development of the Mega Manufacturing Batangas Plant, to ensure that their food products are in accordance with global specifications and in its commitment to produce only world class food products .The company also strictly comply with international recognized certification and standards such as FSSC: 22000, HACCP, EU, and HALAL.
The facility will be an open plant system that includes educational and interactive spaces, aimed to offer many learning opportunities to support the local tourism of Batangas. As MPFI commence its operations, MPFI Growth and Development Officer Marvin Tiu Lim, said “once operations of this plant commences, Mega Prime Foods Inc. continues to uphold highest food safety standards in its products with tireless passion for innovation, contributing to the consequent growth of the Filipinos at the household, community, and national levels, making the company a partner of the Filipino recovery for post-pandemic.”
This was echoed by former COO now CEO Michelle Tui Lim-Chan, who emphasized the importance of education and tourism in the region. “By partnering with education and tourism government sectors, we get to teach people, especially young minds, the importance of food and food security. Through these we support the local tourism industry, to showcase the beauty of Batangas, and contribute the region’s economic growth.”

The event was also attended by DTI Secretary Alfredo E. Pascual, Region IV-A BFAR Regional Director Sammy A. Malvas and Region IV-A DOT Regional Director Ms. Marites T. Castro. Also present at the event were Batangas Governor Hermilando I. Mandanas, 3rd District Representative Ma. Theresa Collantes, City of Sto. Tomas Mayor Atty.
