
Tabaco City, Albay – ALBAY First District Representative and Liberal Party President Edcel C. Lagman passed away on January 30, 2025, at the age of 82, his family confirmed.
In a statement, his daughter, Tabaco City Mayor Krisel Lagman, expressed deep sorrow over his passing, describing him as a man of integrity, compassion, and fearlessness. “He left this world the way he lived his life – with integrity, compassion, and fearlessness,” she said. “He fought until the end with the dogged determination, tenacity, and unshakable hopefulness that defined all that he stood for.”
Lagman, a staunch advocate for human rights and the rule of law, was surrounded by his children, sisters, and family members in his final moments. He succumbed to cardiac arrest at exactly 5:01 p.m.
Born on May 1, 1942, Lagman was known for his unwavering commitment to public service and his legislative work championing social justice, reproductive health, and human rights. Throughout his career, he remained a key figure in Philippine politics, earning respect across party lines for his principled stance on various national issues.
His family, friends, and colleagues remember him as a devoted father, a warm and generous friend, and a tireless public servant. “He will live on in our hearts, and we will continue to honor his memory by living our lives in a way that would make him proud,” Mayor Lagman added.
