RIDING-IN-TANDEM gunmen yesterday shot dead a 46-year-old barangay chbairman in Lupao, Nueva Ecija.
Slain was barangay captain Reginald Espiritu, of Bgy. San Isidro, Lupao municipality.
The gun attack occurred at 5:50 a.m. yesterday.
The victim was in front of his store when the two suspects wearing jackets and pants suddenly appeared and shot the barangay official several times before fleeing towards the town proper.
Witnesses rushed the victim to the Heart of Jesus Hospital in nearby San Jose City, where the victim was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians.
Recovered at the crime scene were two slugs and two unfired bullets for cal.45 gun.
An investigation into the identity of the suspects and the motive for the killing is ongoing.
