OPERATIVES manning a checkpoint in Bataan on Saturday night arrested a motorcycle rider following the confiscation of an unlicensed firearm and illegal drugs.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen Cesar Pasiwen, Bataan police commander Col. Romell Velasco identified the arrested suspect as Audie Maradial, 40, of Bgy. Tugatog, Orani, Bataan.
Maradial was on a motorcycle when flagged down by a checkpoint team of Samal police in Bgy. San Roque, Samal, Bataan .
When asked for documents, the suspect opened his motorcycle compartment and in plain view authorities saw a cal. .45 with one magazine containing three live ammunition and a large plastic sachet containing shabu worth P300,000.
Velasco said the suspect failed to present permit for the gun.
Maradial was immediately arrested and was brought to the Samal Police Station for further investigation.
Cases for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition and Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the arrested suspect.
“Stricter penalties are imposed against violators and engaging in illegal drug trading will only lead violators to prison and possessing these illegal substances is punishable by law,” Pasiwen said.
