A YOUNGER brother of incumbent Valencia, Negros Oriental Mayor Edgar Teves Jr. on Monday was snatched and killed and his body was found dumped in a remote area in Valencia town.
The victim was identified as Don Paulo Zartega Teves , 42. He was found wrapped with a plastic bag and blanket at Purok 3 in Bgy. Calayugan in Valencia municipality around 8:33 a.m. Monday.
A local resident found the victim and immediately called the police.
The victim sustained a gunshot wound in the head.
Negros Oriental police director Col. Reynaldo Lizardo directed the Valencia police to thoroughly investigate the murder case with the help of the Philippine National Police Forensic Group.
Police are interviewing possible witnesses and are checking closed-circuit television (CCTV) recordings in the area, which could help them identify the persons who dumped the victim’s body.
Authorities said the victim is not in any way connected with the government.
