
CALAMBA CITY, LAGUNA — THE City Government of Calamba is proud to announce the official launch of the 2025 CalamBagong Buhayani Festival, a vibrant, month-long celebration honoring the life, legacy, and enduring impact of Philippine national hero Dr. Jose Rizal.
In a press conference held on Tuesday, June 3, at the Jose Rizal Coliseum, the Cultural Affairs, Tourism and Sports Development Department (CATSDD), in partnership with City Councilor Kath Silva and the Information, Investment Promotions and Employment Services Office (IIPESO), unveiled an exciting lineup of programs and activities that promise to blend heritage, culture, and community spirit.
With the theme “Angat ang Lahing Calambeño, Dangal ng Bayan, Alay sa Mundo,” the 2025 festival—spearheaded by Mayor Rosseller H. Rizal—aims to celebrate both the historical and modern-day heroes of Calamba. Among this year’s highly anticipated events are:
Ginoo at Binibining Calamba 2025 – a showcase of the beauty, talent, and intellect of the Calambeño youth
Kusinang Calambeño – featuring heirloom recipes in a bid for UNESCO heritage recognition
Talinong Rizal Quiz Contest – highlighting the academic excellence of local students
Grand Float Parade, Hawig Rizal Look-Alike Contest, Buhayani Job Fair, and Jose Rizal sa Mundo ng Museo, among others
According to CATSDD Head Maolen Karla Boholano, one of the festival’s goals is to preserve and promote Calamba’s culinary heritage passed down through generations, aligning with broader efforts for global recognition of local culture.
“The CalamBagong Buhayani Festival is more than just a tribute to Dr. Jose Rizal. It’s also a celebration of the enduring spirit of Calambeños—past and present—whose contributions continue to shape our city’s identity and progress,” Boholano shared.
As Calamba honors its roots and embraces its future, residents and visitors alike are invited to take part in this cultural journey that pays homage to national pride, community spirit, and the timeless values of heroism.
