The Department of Health (DOH) – Ilocos Region, in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Manaoag, hosted a heartwarming and health-centered, “Beauty and Wellness Day” for public school teachers and students on October 10, 2025, in celebration of World Teacher’s Month and in observance of Mental Health Awareness Month.
The highlight of the day was the “Gupit-Lupit sa mga Manaoagueno’ng Mag-aaral: Beauty and Wellness Day” — a free grooming service that offered professional haircuts for students and teachers of the Manaoag National High School. The initiative symbolized care, confidence, and self-love — all vital elements in nurturing positive mental health.
Teachers were also given special care by providing free medical consultations, vitamins, and essential medicines, alongside services under the Renal Disease Control Program (REDCoP) to support early detection and management of kidney health issues.
“This is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to our modern-day heroes — our teachers. At the same time, we’re bringing wellness closer to our communities by caring for both the physical and mental health of our educators and learners,” Regional Director Paula Paz Sydiongco stated.
“By combining health services with personal care activities, we hope to inspire other communities to embrace a more holistic approach to health promotion — one that celebrates people, uplifts spirits, and empowers lives,” she emphasized.
The “Gupit Lupit sa mga Manaoaguenong Mag-aaral: Beauty and Wellness Day” and “PuroKalusugan Para sa mga Guro ng MNHS”” was conducted through the DOH Health Promotion Bureau’s People-Centered Activity (PCA), which aimed to give recognition to the dedication of teachers while promoting holistic well-being among both educators and learners.
