DOH-Ilocos Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco together with 1st District Congressman Ronald V. Singson led the turn-over of BHS packages and equipment for barangay health stations at the Ilocos Sur Provincial Farmers Livelihood Center in Vigan City on August 30, 2024.
THE Department of Health (DOH) – Ilocos Region turned over 29 Barangay Health Station (BHS) packages in Ilocos Sur to further improve the delivery of basic healthcare services, especially in remote barangays of the province.
Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco said that the provision of BHS packages is part of DOH’s 8-Point Action Agenda 1 and 2, which is to strengthen health services at the community level and ensure that patients don’t need to travel far to receive healthcare.
“Ang pagpapalakas ng ating mga primary care facilities ang magbibigay kumpleto at dekalidad na serbisyo tungo sa pagpapabuti ng kalusugan ng ating mga kababayan na nasa barangay.”
The BHS package worth P200,000 each includes a dressing cart, minor surgical set, mechanical bed, spine board, EENT diagnostic set, weighing scale with BMI calculator, weighing scale for infant, fetal doppler and examining table, medicine cabinet, instrument cabinet, nursing kit, tabletop sterilizer, and generating set 10kva funded through the Health Facility Enhancement Program (HFEP) under the General Appropriations Act of 2023.
Among the recipients BHS were Cabalanggan, Capangdanan and Paing in Bantay; Arangan, Carusipan, Nagsincaoan and Sisim in Cabugao; Anonang Mayor, Aninang Menor, Callaguip, Manggat, Naguilian and Pantay Tamorong in Caoayan; Población East, Polacion West and Sagneb in San Ildefonso; Camindoroan and Guimod in San Juan; Cabaroan, Cabuluan and Pangada in Sta. Catalina; Lussoc and Nagbettedan in Santo Domingo; Jordan and Nagcullooban in Sinait; Brgy. II, Camangaan, Capangpangan and San Pedro in Vigan City.
Medical equipment was also turned over to district hospitals including a portable dental autoclave for Cervantes; an agglutination viewer, refrigerator and portable dental autoclave for Narvacan; an agglutination viewer, urine analyzer and electrolyte analyzer for Salcedo; a refrigerator, portable dental autoclave and electrolyte analyzer for Sta. Lucia; one refrigerator and one electrolyte analyzer for Sinait; and one electrolyte analyzer for Gabriela Silang.
Sydiongco also handed quick response funds for the construction/completion/upgrading/repair of Ilocos Sur District Hospitals brought about by Typhoon Egay and the 2022 earthquake including ₱300K for Cervantes; ₱2 million for Salcedo; ₱550K to Tagudin; ͥ₱50K Magsingal; ₱500K Narvacan; and ₱95K to Sinait.
The regional office also turned over one land ambulance to the municipality of Sinait.
The medical equipment and emergency vehicle for Ilocos Sur health facilities was made possible through the initiative of 1st District Congressman Ronald V. Singson.
