
THE Department of Health (DOH) – Ilocos Region together with its medical centers provided free pre-employment medical evaluations, including complete blood count (CBC), urinalysis and a medical certificate for first time job seekers during the celebration of the 127th Indepedence Day on June 12, 2025.
The free health assessment was conducted in all provinces in various distinctive locations including SM Laoag in Ilocos Norte, Candon Civic Center in Candon City, Ilocos Sur, Robinson’s Place La Union, Nepo Mall in Dagupan City and SM Rosales in Pangasinan.
Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco said that the initiative was the health department’s commitment under the “First-Time Job Seeker Act (RA 11261)” which provides free medical certificate to support first-time job seekers, alongside other essential documents like NBI clearance, police clearance, birth and marriage certificates, and academic records.
“This will help individuals who seek to enter the workforce by acquiring their essential public documents needed for their employment without incurring fees.”.
“Ang mga hired-on-the-spot (HOTS) ay agad na binibigyan ng medical certificate after their medical evaluation and those that are not will have to get their medcert on a scheduled date that will be given to them.
All individuals that were consulted during the event were given the necessary medical treatment and medicines, if needed,” she stated.
A total of 1,235 applicants were served with 225 hired-on-the-spot were given medical certificate.
Aside from the medical document, job seekers have also undergone health risk assessment to help identify and manage risk factors for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) like hypertension and diabetes.
Sydiongco also announced that the health department will have its own job fair nationwide this coming June 23, 2025 at the Robinson’s Place La Union in celebration of the DOH.s 127th founding anniversary.
