
HOUSE leaders, Quad Comm chairmen and members of the Young Guns are all united in commending Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez for his latest rise in public approval ratings, attributing the House of Representatives’ legislative accomplishments to his inclusive and strong leadership.
Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales, Deputy Speaker David “Jayjay” Suarez and Majority Leader Manuel Jose “Mannix” M. Dalipe collectively hailed the Speaker’s ability to foster unity among political parties.
“Speaker Romualdez leads by example – masipag, masinsin magtrabaho at nakatuon sa kapakanan ng mga Pilipino. His leadership encourages everyone in the House to follow his lead in working tirelessly for the people,” they said.
The leaders emphasized that under Speaker Romualdez’s leadership, the House has passed critical pieces of legislation, saying “Many of these laws are landmark legislation and reflect on a legislative body that is efficient, effective and dedicated to the needs of the Filipino people.”
According to the Tugon ng Masa (TNM) survey conducted by OCTA Research from Nov. 10 to 16, 2024, Speaker Romualdez had a trust rating of 58 percent and a performance rating of 59 percent.
Meanwhile, Quad Comm leaders Reps. Robert Ace Barbers, Dan Fernandez, Joseph Stephen “Caraps” Paduano, Bienvenido “Benny” Abante, Romeo Acop, Jonathan Keith Flores, Johnny Ty Pimentel and Gerville “Jinky Bitrics” Luistro praised Speaker Romualdez for prioritizing accountability and good governance through strengthened oversight functions.
“Speaker Romualdez ensures transparency and integrity in governance. His guidance has allowed us to investigate and address critical issues such as agricultural smuggling, anomalies in power costs and the misuse of public funds,” they collectively stated.
The Quad Comm leaders highlighted the ongoing probes into confidential fund misuse, as well as investigations into illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) linked to financial crimes and other illicit activities.
“These investigations reflect the Speaker’s commitment to ensuring that public funds and resources are used responsibly,” they added.
For their part, the “Young Guns” of the House, including Reps. Pammy Zamora, Zia Alonto Adiong, PM Vargas, Ernesto “Ernix” Dionisio Jr., Lordan Suan, Rodge Gutierrez, Jude Acidre, Jay Khonghun, Inno Dy V, Paolo Ortega V, Jil Bongalon, Mika Suansing, Migs Nograles and Cheeno Almario lauded Speaker Romualdez for his mentorship and inclusivity.
“Speaker Romualdez empowers us to contribute meaningfully to the legislative process. He inspires the younger generation of lawmakers to actively champion the causes closest to the hearts of our people,” they said.
The Young Guns also acknowledged the Speaker’s role in ensuring that their initiatives for youth and marginalized sectors receive legislative attention.
“Sa ilalim ng liderato ni Speaker Romualdez, nagkaroon kami ng mas malaking boses para itaguyod ang aming mga adhikain at saloobin, kasama na ang aming mga ipinaglalabang panukalang batas,” they emphasized.
Under Speaker Romualdez’s leadership, the House has achieved historic legislative milestones, processing over 4,760 measures and enacting 166 laws in just 178 session days.
These include significant reforms in education, health and economic recovery, which directly impact millions of Filipinos.
Among the House’s legislative priorities are measures that aim to support micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), improve universal healthcare and enhance disaster preparedness through a National Flood Control Plan. Speaker Romualdez has been instrumental in pushing these bills forward.
“Speaker Romualdez’s unity-driven leadership transcends political affiliations. Ang mahalaga sa kanya ay mabigyan ng konkretong solusyon ang mga problema ng ating bayan,” the lawmakers collectively noted.
The lawmakers also commended the Speaker’s efforts to maintain a cohesive and harmonious working environment in the House.
“Speaker Romualdez ensures that every voice is heard, making the House of Representatives a platform for collaboration and nation-building,” they said.
“He leads not only with vision but also with action. He has set a standard for leadership that inspires everyone to work harder for the Filipino people,” the lawmakers added.
