Magnitude 6.6 quake rattles Davao Occ.

A MAGNITUDE 6.6 earthquake rattled Balut Island in Davao Occidental, the  Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

According to Phivolcs, the tremor was tectonic origin.

It  was traced 434 kms. east of Balut Island in the municipality of Sarangani.

The quake occurred at 9:39 a.m. It had a depth of 122 km.

Phivolcs said  aftershocks may occur but will not cause damage.
