MAYOR Ricardo Silvestre of Marilao, Bulacan on Sunday died in a road accident at the Clark Freeport Zone in Mabalacat City, Pampanga.
Police said the mayor’s death was confirmed by her daughter Jackilou.
Silvestre, 65, was in the back seat of his white Toyota Land Cruiser driven by PSSg Rodel Gojo Cruz Alcantara, 48, when they met the accident,
With them is the mayor’s secretary, Karen Bonifacio.
An initial investigation by the Mabalacat police showed the mayor’s vehicle had just exited the Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway and was entering the Freeport area when the SUV suddenly swerved to the left and hit a street lamp pole on Prince Balagtas Avenue, Clark Freeport Zone.
Responding medics from the Clark Development Corporation headed by Aubrey Fabian rushed Silvestre to the Medical City, Clark Freeport Zone, where he died later.
The mayor’s secretary was brought to Angeles University Foundation Hospital for immediate treatment while driver Alcantara, who sustained serious injuries, was taken to the Medical City but was later transferred to another hospital in Bulacan.
