THE Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) CALABARZON reported the June 2024 inflation in CALABARZON via hybrid press conference on 10 July 2024. Regional Director Charito C. Armonia announced that the prices of commodities in the region increased by 3.3 percent, which is slightly lower than the 3.5 percent rise in prices observed in May 2024.
The slower rate of price increase for the Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels commodity group contributed to the overall decrease in the inflation rate (IR). This commodity group experienced decline in prices by -0.5 percent in June from 2.3 percent in May. Also, contributing to the decrease in inflation were the lower increase of prices of Transport group which was recorded at 3.1 percent in June, from 3.4 percent in May.
By province, slower increase in prices of commodities were recorded in the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal. Cavite posted an IR of 2.0 percent, from 2.7 percent in May; Laguna at 2.2 percent, from 2.7 percent in May; Rizal at 4.7 percent, from 5.0 percent in May. On the contrary, higher increase in prices of commodities were recorded in the areas of Batangas, Quezon, and City of Lucena. Batangas posted an IR of 3.9 percent, from 3.5 percent in May; Quezon at 5.3 percent, from 4.5 percent in May; City of Lucena at 4.9 percent, from 4.4 percent in May.
