Sen. asserted this. Robinhood “Robin” C. Padilla, after expressing support for the resolution and bill in the Senate promoting workers’ rights.
Padilla expressed support for the Senate resolution agreeing to International Labor Organization Convention 190 or the elimination of violence and harassment in the workplace.
“I hope this is the beginning and here in our hall I know that we are very impatient to raise the salary of our workers. After we fight for their right to eliminate violence and harassment in workplaces, this is hopefully we will follow,” he said.
Padilla added, “the spirit of revolution is still very much alive in our hearts and our desire to give proper rights to our workers.”
In his co-sponsorship speech for Senate Bill 2505 (Eddie Garcia Act) that ensures humane conditions for TV and film workers, Padilla insisted that the struggle of Andres Bonifacio, Macario Sakay and Emilio Jacinto, who he said they are also actors on the stage.
“This is a continuous struggle of the artists to have a very good environment where we work. Because Sen. Jinggoy Estrada and Sen. Bong Revilla mentioned earlier, sometimes we reach 36 hours straight. First the bad thing is that to health,” he said.
“They said, I will translate this into Tagalog, they said, hope is placed in dreams, imagination and courage to make a dream come true. This is a dream not just of actors but all those who work in TV, movies, even those we say on stage. This is their dream, to have proper working hours,” he added.
