A WOMAN and her two nieces drowned in a river in Bago City, Negros Occidental.
Police identified the victims as Riza Macatigos, 31, and her nieces aged 16 and 11, all of Bgy. Napoles, Bago City.
MSgt. Mars Anthony Luto said the victims attended a birthday party celebrated in Bago river at Purok Paho in Bgy. Napoles.
Macatigo’s nieces went on swimming when they failed to notice that they were already in a deep part of the river.
Macatigo tried to save the two but she too was drowned
Her 13-year-old daughter, who can swim, survived but failed to rescue her mother and cousins.
The survivor immediately sought help but the Macatigos and her nieces were declared dead on arrival at a hospital.
