
Manila – ATLEAST 15 units of Florida Buses were suspended for 30 days after the Department of Transportation issued a suspension order for indulging in a race on a national road in Cagayan during nigh time.
The viral video was taken by Carlo Carbonel who was on his way home and posted it in is social media on June 8, 2025
The video shows the buses in a race against each other which is extremely dangerous and reckless, putting lives at risk.
It involves speeding, which can lead to loss of control, especially if the road is slippery and it reduces effectiveness of safety equipment, which increase the severity of crashes.
Bus racing can also result in collisions with other vehicles, pedestrians, and roadside obstacles.
Florida issued a statement apologizing about the incident and assured the public that the matter is being addressed.
“The incident doesn’t align with our company’s values and standards. Public that safety and well-being of our passengers is our top priority,” the company stated.
On February 7, 2014, a Florida Bus Company met an accident in Sitio Paggang, Talubin, Bontoc, Mountain Province where one of its buses plunged into a ravine, resulting in 14 deaths, including comedian Arvin “Tado” Jimenez and 32 people injured.
GV Florida operation was suspended after 28 of its buses failed the LTFRB inspection.
However, the six-month suspension was soon lifted later as the Court of Appeals backed the bus operator’s petition for continued operation.
