AN armed encounter with alleged drug peddlers left two anti-narcotics operatives wounded in Sto. Domingo, Nueva Ecija on Tuesday night.
One suspect was arrested.
According to police head Maj. Sandy C. Bautista, the wounded were Staff Sgts. Bryan Raymundo, of Bgy. Buasao, this municipality, and Rommel Abad, of Tomas St., Bgy. Sta. Barbara, Llanera.
Both policemen are assigned as intelligence and anti-illegal drug operatives at the Sto. Domingo Police Station
Arrested was Israel Andres alias “El-el,” a farmer, of Pedro Pascual St., this town.,while his alleged cohort identified as alias “Bubule,” a mechanic, of Bgy. Hulo, escaped and remains at-large.
The gunfight occurred at Pedro Pascual St., Bgy. Poblacion at about 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
The two motorcycle-riding cops were dispatched to conduct anti-criminality and anti-illegal drugs operation on Tuesday night when upon reaching Pedro Pascual St., two unidentified men on a tricycle suddenly stopped and fired shots at Raymundo and Abad.
The injured officers were rushed to the Sto. Domingo District Hospital and later transferred to the Good Samaritan Hospital in Cabanatuan City for further treatment.
An investigation is ongoing.
