SENATOR Pia Cayetano addresses the Vice Mayors’ League of the Philippines during their 4th Quarter 2024 National Executive Board Meeting, emphasizing the need for continuous learning, sustainable development, and proactive approaches to the challenges facing local governance.
Drawing from her experience as the first and former Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Sustainable Development Goals, Innovation, and Futures Thinking, Sen. Cayetano challenged the local leaders to embrace futures thinking and emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, as critical tools for preparing their communities to thrive in the future.
Now currently chairing the Senate Energy Committee, the Senator also highlighted as a strategic milestone the Natural Gas Bill that she sponsored, which recently passed on 3rd reading in the Senate. She emphasized that indigenous gas exploration and reliable energy infrastructure are fundamental to the nation’s economic and sustainable growth. In relation to this, she urged the vice mayors to examine and promote available resources within their respective jurisdictions, and build upon them.
